Abstract

DB2 12 for z/OS Migration Planning & Technology Workshop focuses on how you can quickly upgrade to DB2 Migration and exploit New Features related with System, zHW, Application Development safely and securely .

Objectives :

Technical Overview of DB2 12 for z/OS which will cover performance enhancements for traditional workloads, performance enhancements for modern workloads, application enablement enhancements, reliability, availability, scalability and security

  • Explanation of how you can exploit new features and functions quickly to save time and money
  • Explanation of DB2 12 migration process,

The speakers will provide hints and tips, address some myths, provide additional planning information, and provide usage guidelines and positioning on new enhancements. The main objective is to help customers migrate as fast as possible, but safely and encourage version to version migration.

Speaker Bio :

Tom is a Senior IT Specialist who has recently joined the IBM BetaWorks organisation, specialising in DB2 for z/OS and its associated tooling, and has recently completed running the DB2 12 Early Support Program. Before joining Tom worked in IBM Software Group in the UK, specialising in DB2 Engine, DB2 Tooling and Business Analytics. Tom has over 25 years experience in Data Management and has worked for IBM for the last 16 years , firstly as a DB2 DBA supporting SAP on System Z and for the last 14 years in Technical Pre-Sales. Before joining IBM, he worked as an independent consultant and has experience in the insurance, banking and retail industries, where he held a variety of roles including COBOL DL/1 programmer, IMS DBA, Technical Programmer and DB2 DBA. He has authored several Redbooks covering DB2 Administration and tooling.
