The benefits of using XML to store structured and less structured data may be obvious, but after getting a first grasp of XML in any tutorial out there, people often wonder how to really get started.

This does remind us of the old Steve Martin quote on how to make two million dollars. The answer to that question is to start off with "first, make one million dollars".

Therefore we start our XML afternoon with a session about some main concepts and different methods of putting XML into practice.

After the theory we complete the picture with user experiences from Euroclear and ArcelorMittal. This will not only allow you to gain a deeper understanding of XML, but also get some interesting and perhaps unusual ideas on how to use XML in your installation.

We conclude the afternoon with a wink to next year as Andy Ward already has a quick look under the hood of DB2 11 for z/OS. (Next year we will plan do more on DB2 11.)

After the sessions, please don’t rush off, as Euroclear offers an after-meeting drink where you can exchange more ideas, alternatives and suggestions you may be deploying in your environment.

In summary, it is the typical sort of meeting that you expect from a GSE user group event. No dull sessions, but real communication and sharing of knowledge. So don’t hesitate to join us and register today.
